30-Second Case Study: Tables Without Borders

I partnered with a non-profit event for refugee chefs in Washington, D.C to brand the event and design a logo. The goal of the event is to help emerging refugee chefs reestablish their careers by putting them in some of the cities most popular restuarants for one night.

Notably, the brand had to appeal to three different audiences:

  • restaurant-goers who want to support refugees
  • restuarants who want to give back
  • participating refugee chefs

Defining the Brand

I led the group hosting the event to define three values they want to represent:

  • Compassionate
  • Professional
  • Adventurous

I translated these ideas to visual concepts, and did research on logomarks in adjacent spaces that invoked these values. After presenting several different concepts, they chose the final logo shown here. I'm currently in the process of building their website and applying the brand across marketing materials.
